“Since the beginning of the 2017 legislative session, several groups and legislators have been working to support the provision of family planning services in Nevada. It is hard to imagine that this is an issue. Due to the reduction of a state Title X grant, these services are in jeopardy — particularly in the rurals where the public health nurses provide multiple basic health services like immunizations, breast exams, pap smears, well baby checks, STD treatment, and family planning. The cuts to Title X funds affected 11 rural public health nurses in 10 counties — and they have had to make up the shortages through being frugal and effective with their extremely limited resources.”
