House parties don’t have to just revolve around a political discussion. A fun activity can be combined with a discussion about making sure that all women and men across the country have the ability to protect their reproductive health and rights. Get information here.
-
Write a letter to the editor
The Letters to the Editor section of the newspaper is a great place to inform and educate people on the issues you want to take action on. Legislative Priorities
The National Report Card on Women's Health (Oct. 2007) ranks Nevada 39th nationally for women's health, using health indicators such as access to insurance, prenatal care and health screenings.
Nevada Advocates is working to be sure every Nevadan has a right to decide if and when to start a family, to keep teenagers safe and protect their futures, and to protect access to health care. If you're willing to share your story or speak out for women's health - let us know!
Political Priorities
Nevada is a pro-choice state. In 1990, Nevada voters passed the "Freedom of Choice Act" affirming a woman's right to choose. Our political priority is to engage women voters in improving their health care and political choices.
At the January 19, 2008 Presidential Caucuses, a record turnout of Nevadans had a real say in the presidential nomination process. At the same time, Planned Parenthood supporters turned in thousands of pink platform resolutions to protect women's health. You can help us achieve our political goals for 2008:
We know the Planned Parenthood message reaches single women and many undecided voters more than most organizations, political parties or even candidates. While reproductive rights may not be the top-of-mind issue asked by pollsters, Planned Parenthood also knows that a candidates' stand on reproductive rights is often the deciding factor in choosing whom to vote for, if you happen to be undecided.
about McCain's dangerous anti-choice record! (You never know who you might meet on the campaign trail ... Maria Ballo came out for early voting in Las Vegas!) |
